About Us
The Think Tank was founded by Debra Born, a certified teacher in Virginia. She received her education at Virginia Commonwealth University and has taught in the Chesterfield County School System. She has also provided private tutoring for University Instructors.
From the Founder
I have always loved teaching. I began my professional career teaching in Chesterfield County. When I had my twin boys, my husband and I decided I would not return to full time teaching so that I could stay home with the boys. I currently teach English part-time at a private school in Chesterfield. I have always enjoyed doing thematic studies, so after much brain-storming The Think Tank was born. During my studies at VCU, I researched and gave several presentations on the topic of "Thematic Unit Studies." I have since adopted this strategy into my own teaching philosophy. I believe that it is so important for students to be able to see the "whole picture" when studying a subject. It allows them to make vital connections necessary for learning.
